TATABANYA, Hungary -- Asahi Glass will build an automotive glass plant in Hungary.
The $74.5 million plant will serve the growing number of automakers investing in central and eastern Europe.
Auto production in the region will rise to 4.1 million cars in 2008, from 2.4 million last year, according to Hungarian government forecasts.
Asahi is the largest glass maker in Japan.
Asahi's factory will be near Tatabanya, in northwest Hungary. Construction will start this year, and production is scheduled to begin in early 2006.
