Wage rates for factory workers in China are about one-seventh those in Korea. At the Automotive News China Congress, Michael Dunne, president of Automotive Resources Asia Ltd., was asked when China's rates would rise to Korea's levels. "Not in our lifetime," he said. China has an estimated 98 million workers who have left farms to seek work in the cities.
