DETROIT - General Motors is offering sweet deals to owners of its cars and trucks.
GM is passing out loyalty bonuses of $5,000 on 29 nameplates offered by Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile and Pontiac.
And there are bonuses of $4,000 on 16 more nameplates from every brand except Cadillac and Hummer.
Purchasers of another 14 lines get loyalty spiffs of $2,000 or $3,000. In all cases, the payments apply to 2003 and 2004 models and are in effect until Aug. 2.
The loyalty bonuses are in lieu of GM's other rebates, some of which also have been sweetened. There is no double dipping; a customer cannot collect both the loyalty payment and the regular incentive.
Models on which the rebate has been raised $500 include the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon crew cabs.
Some finance terms have been revised. Best of the current offers is 0 percent for 60 months and 1.9 percent for 72 months on selected models of the Chevrolet Cavalier and Pontiac Sunfire.
