LOS ANGELES -- Former Mazda executive Jan Thompson, 54, has been named Nissan North America Inc.'s vice president of marketing.
Thompson fills a slot vacated by the promotion of Steve Wilhite to vice president of global marketing for Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. in Tokyo. She reports to Jed Connelly, senior vice president of sales and marketing.
Thompson comes to Nissan from marketing company The Designory Inc. of Long Beach, Calif., where she had been CEO. She held vice president of sales and vice president of marketing posts for Mazda Motors of America in the early 1990s.
John Miller has been named vice president of purchasing strategy, a new position. He will be based at Nissan North America's manufacturing operations in Smyrna, Tenn. Miller had been a corporate vice president at Motorola Corp. as a director of purchasing in the personal communications unit since 2000. Prior to that, he spent 17 years at Honda of America Manufacturing Inc. in Marysville, Ohio.
