NEW DELHI - India's Tata group said on Tuesday that Jeffrey D. Sage, a global automotive solutions executive with IBM at Detroit, had joined group firm Tata Technologies Ltd as COO.
Unlisted Tata Technologies, based in the western Indian city of Pune, provides engineering and design services to global automotive and aerospace companies taking advantage of India's large pool of low-cost engineering professionals.
The Tata group, comprising 91 companies, is India's second-biggest business conglomerate. Group flagship Tata Motors Ltd. is the country's biggest vehicle maker.
Jeffrey Sage comes with 28 years of industry and technical knowledge spanning five continents, especially of vehicle makers, having worked with General Motors, the Tata group said in a statement.
"This will enhance our automotive offers in engineering, design and IT business systems that support the core automotive environment," Patrick McGoldrick, managing director of Tata Technologies, said in the statement.
Several global firms including IBM, Microsoft and General Motors carry out research and development in India to take advantage of its large pool of engineering talent.
