MADRID -- BMW will spend E450 millions on parts from suppliers in Spain and Portugal by 2005, said BMW Spain and Portugal Purchasing Manager Wolfgang Bogoll.
Last year, the German automaker bought E241 million in parts from suppliers in the two countries.
The partsmakers stand to benefit from BMW's goal of being the world's top premium car company by 2008.
The new 1 series is due in September, the next-generation 3 series arrives next year and the convertible version of the Mini will be in showrooms this summer.
BMW's suppliers in Spain include Antolin, which provides roof systems for 7-, 5- and 1-series models, and Ficosa, and which provides electric mirrors.
Its Portugal-based suppliers include Visteon, which will provide radios for the 1 series, and Exide, which provides batteries.
