Feb 27-- Some of you guys aren't going to get this, but trust me, a lot of women around the industry are paying attention.
Next week at the Geneva auto show, Volvo will unveil a concept car designed by women for women. Five women led the design team that included 100 females. OK, these days, many automakers have women in senior positions, including design.
But to get where they are in this macho business, most of those women had to out car-guy the car guys.
Leave it to the Swedes to let women be women.
Volvo's YCC concept accommodates what some might consider stereotypical feminine interests. For example, the seat covers come off and are machine washable.
This approach to design will only catch on if more carmakers get in touch with their feminine side.
