Feb 24 -- Remember the old saying: "When you buy a used car, you're just buying someone else's headaches."
Well, as many as 40 million used cars change hands each year in the United States. That includes everything from the old car that you gave to your daughter when she went away to school right up to the certified used cars sold with lengthy warranties by new-car dealers.
Dealers go to great lengths to assure consumers and protect themselves whey they buy used cars to sell.
Now, Carfax Inc., a title guarantee company for automobiles, will buy back cars and trucks from dealers and consumers who have problems with vehicles that Carfax OKed.
What kind of problems? Hidden flood damage, frame damage, a rolled-bad odometer or even a car that was bought back by the factory because it's a lemon.
It's supposed to be another remedy for a consumer's used-car headaches.
