George Strickler, who quit as Visteon Corp.'s CFO before he even started the job, has been named CFO of Republic Engineered Products Inc., a North American producer of special bar quality steel, Republic said Thrusday.
The Fairlawn, Ohio, company produces steel used in parts such as axles, drivetrains and suspensions.
Strickler, 56, backed out on Visteon on Nov. 26, after leaving the CFO post at BorgWarner Inc., a supplier of transmission and powertrain assemblies. Visteon said Strickler changed his mind "for personal reasons."
Strickler joined BorgWarner as CFO in 2001. He had a key role in reducing debt and boosting earnings there. Strickler also is a former vice president of finance for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. of Akron, where he held finance and treasury positions for 30 years.
Visteon is still searching for a successor to CFO Dan Coulson. Coulson had planned to retire after 38 years at Visteon and Ford. He has stayed on as interim CFO.
