ZURICH, Switzerland - Roger Johansson, 38, has been named General Motors Europe vice president of purchasing and a management board member in charge of purchasing at Adam Opel AG. He took the position Feb. 1.
He succeeds Robert "Bob" Socia, who has been named managing director of GM South Africa.
In addition to these new duties, Johansson will continue in his current job as general executive director of Europe at GM-Fiat Worldwide Purchasing, the joint venture between GM and Fiat established in 2001. That post combines all former purchasing activities of GM and Fiat in Europe and Latin America.
