LEIPZIG -- Porsche will double production of its Carrera GT model but new customers still must wait at least two years to get one.
Porsche's Leipzig plant will build two of the sports cars per day starting in April -- up from one a day.
But Porsche says the production boost will not result in shorter waiting times for customers.
A buyer who orders a Carrera GT today will get the car at the beginning of 2006 at the earliest, said Siegfried Bülow, Porsche Leipzig managing director.
That's because 1,000 units of the special edition, which is limited to 1,500, are already sold.
Bülow said the number of workers on the GT assembly line will rise to 70 from about 30 by April.
