DETROIT - Bbi Enterprises Group, a small auto parts maker, says it has beat out several larger suppliers to win a contract estimated at $10 million to supply the Pontiac Solstice.
"We felt it was important to be involved with General Motors on a groundbreaking new vehicle," says BBi CEO Steven Brown, whose Bloomfield Hills, Mich., company will supply the carpet and acoustical systems for the roadster, which will be produced for the 2006 model year.
Brown says bidders included Lear Corp., Rieter Automotive North America Inc., HP Pelzer and Collins & Aikman Corp.
Formed three years ago, BBi has grown to sales of $120 million in 2003. It has seven plants in North America and one in China.
