After presiding over a businesslike Audi make meeting at the NADA convention, Len Hunt, vice president in charge of the Audi brand in America, got a taste of what he's in for when he then sat in on a raucous Volkswagen make meeting.
Hunt, 48, will move to Volkswagen on March 1 as vice president of Volkswagen of America Inc. He replaces Frank Maguire, who is retiring.
VW dealers vented their frustration with core products that are 7 years old, quality glitches and the difficulty in meeting stringent brand standards. Unlike Audi, which has enjoyed four consecutive record sales years in the United States, VW sales tumbled 10.5 percent in 2003. Hunt spoke with Staff Reporter Ralph Kisiel.
