Feb. 10 -- It was a nice moment when Pontiac-GMC dealers gave Lynn Myers a warm send-off during the National Automobile Dealers Association convention in Las Vegas.
On April 1, Myers, 61, will retire as marketing general manager of Pontiac-GMC. Myers spent much of her career at Oldsmobile. But she took the reins at Pontiac-GMC when relations with dealers were at low ebb and she helped rebuild trust.
Dealers will miss her straight-forward approach, says John Peterson, a Pontiac-GMC dealer in Bloomington, Minn., who also headed NADA in 1996.
Myers is a car guy. She also was a good soldier who did her best to sell that ugly Pontiac Aztek, which was foisted on the division.
Now, with new products like the GTO and G6 from Pontiac plus the GMC Canyon, the division is ready to roll and Lynn Meyers is leaving.
General Motors is losing someone very special.
