Dealers must educate the public and upgrade employee training to clean up the industry's tarnished image, says incoming NADA Chairman Charley Smith.
"Our goal is to continue to build consumer trust," said Smith, owner of Watson Truck and Supply in Hobbs, N.M. Smith pitched his list of initiatives during his inaugural speech Monday at the convention.

Dealerships that train their salespeople boost their profits, Smith said. "Raiding employees from other dealers won't solve the problem. Let's take charge of our own destiny and create a bigger talent pool."
