I was an auto dealer from 1944 to 1971, and the dire straits of the domestic manufacturers (the Big 2, not the Big 3) make this old-timer burn with a desire to be heard.
The UAW has controlled the domestic manufacturers for 60 years. The foreign invasion of our markets is now in the hands of the Japanese, the Germans and the Koreans.
We American auto dealers had to get on their bandwagon to survive. That led to dealerships handling a multitude of brands, and we brought it on ourselves.
The Big 2 will be minor players in the U.S. market within 10 years.
