Is Lincoln Mercury missing the boat again?
With the demise of the Mercury Villager, we are all waiting for the new Mercury Monterey.
How much of an impact will it really have?
The Monterey is entering an overcrowded market. There are countless choices in the $30,000-plus range. With a minor face-lift, which could be achieved with a waterfall grille, Lincoln-style wheels and a few additional luxury features, it could be a Lincoln product.
What would be our competition then? We would have the only true luxury minivan on the market.
While we're at it, why not build a Lincoln pickup based on a Ford F-250 Crew Cab chassis?
That could be done by making minor but unmistakable cosmetic changes.
It seems that Lincoln is not treated as the flagship line of Ford Motor Co. While the quality is certainly better than it has ever been, we are in dire need of new and exciting product.
