It's a shame that service contract vendors, auto dealers and consumers are being hurt by the financial problems of National Warranty Insurance Co. But that's no reason to look for a federal handout.
Some service contract vendors that were stung when National Warranty stopped honoring extended warranty claims are trying to get the Federal Emergency Management Agency to bail them out. That's outrageous.
The emergency agency should provide relief to the legitimate victims of natural disasters, not those whose business interests have turned sour.
