DETROIT - Mann+Hummel Group will relocate and double the size of its Mexican operation from Tlalnepantla to one of two undisclosed sites that are under consideration in Mexico.
The supplier, based in Ludwigsburg, Germany, will invest nearly $15 million over three years on the facility.
Mann+Hummel plans to break ground in October, with occupancy planned for the second quarter of 2004 and start of production in the third quarter.
The Mexican operation employs 150 people. The expansion will add 90 jobs.
The 135,000-square-foot plant will comprise manufacturing and assembly, warehousing, administration and manufacturing design. The expansion will accommodate new products, including oil modules and coolant surge tanks.
Mann+Hummel reported $1.1 billion in global sales last year, including $120 million in North America. The company's automotive unit supplies products including air filter and intake manifold systems, liquid filter systems and cabin filters to automakers.
