More dealers are satisfied with their finance companies than ever before, according to the annual Dealer Financing Satisfaction Study by J.D. Power and Associates released Wednesday, July 30.
Seventy-four percent of dealer principals reported being satisfied, compared with 73 percent in 2002.
That is the highest rating in the survey's nine-year history, the Westlake Village, Calif., market research firm says.
Among the three market segments, captives led the way in dealer satisfaction. Eighty-seven percent of dealers reported that they were satisfied with their captive company, compared with 86 percent last year.
Banks ranked second at 78 percent, up from 75 percent in 2002.
Finishing last were independents at 58 percent, a drop from 61 percent.
For the third consecutive year, Audi Financial Services swept the prime retail credit and retail leasing categories.
Volvo Finance NA Inc. ranked highest in floorplanning.
J.D. Power says the results were based on responses from more than 4,300 dealership principals.
