CEO Bill Ford and his father, William Clay Ford Sr., shared some family stories at Ford Motor Co.'s annual meeting.
Among the tales: Company founder Henry Ford put grandson William Clay on his lap and taught him how to drive at the age of 10. The lesson lasted until a policeman caught them speeding down a country road at 70mph - or more than 110kph - one Sunday morning.
It was fortunate the officer never asked for Henry's driver's license, William Clay Ford said, because "to the best of my knowledge, he never owned one."
Bill Ford teased that he might share some of his father's own idiosyncrasies at next year's annual meeting. The 2003 meeting was held on June 16, the automaker's 100th anniversary.
