Bill Ford, the Ford most likely to have the biggest influence on the company's fortunes over the next quarter century, described what Ford Motor Co. will look like in 25 years. We will still be Ford. We will still be an American-based company with arms around the world. We will be doing more with information technology, but I don't see a radical shift. We will still be selling our vehicles through dealers. Sourcing patterns will change. Flexible manufacturing will continue to gain an ever-increasing foothold so that we will be able to send many different types of vehicles down the same line. We should not have those kinds of incentive levels, trying to push vehicles. It should be much more of a customer-pull industry. Because we can much more closely match our production to customer demands.
