Many car designers can only dream about the success that Jack Telnack, 66, Ford Motor Co.'s former vice president of corporate design, had during his 40-year career. He is best known for his work on the 1986 Ford Taurus. It was a revolutionary piece of work - and a top seller - because of its jelly bean aerodynamic design. His influence continues.
Telnack, who retired in 1997, had some other notable designs. They include the 1979 Mustang, 1983 Thunderbird, 1986 Mercury Sable, 1996 Ford Ka, 1997 F-150 pickup and the current Thunderbird.
