J.D. Power and Associates has named Stephen Goodall CEO - a title that had been held by Dave Power, the 73-year-old founder. Power will continue to serve as company chairman.
Goodall was president and COO, a role he had since 1996. He retains his president's position along with his new title. The company has not named a new COO.
Goodall, 48, has worked for J.D. Power for more than 25 years. He was senior partner and managed J.D. Power's North American research operations. In 1989, he founded the company's Troy, Mich., office to work more closely with automakers and suppliers.
J.D. Power and Associates is a Westlake Village, Calif., marketing information services firm. Its Initial Quality Study award is one of its better-known awards in the industry. The study compiles information on new-vehicle quality after 90 days of ownership.
