When Stefan Mueller resigned as head of Volvo Deutschland earlier this year, Volvos top management in Sweden asked Dieter Laxy to delay his retirement and take over in the critical German market.
Laxy, who had just retired as worldwide marketing and sales director, has wasted no time making changes at the top in his home country. He has put his own team in charge, replacing managers hired by Mueller.
German marketing director Göran-Carl Tamm has resigned and been replaced by Rob van Rijswijsk. And Laxy himself will replace Bernhard Schoder as director of sales until a sales chief can be found. That gives Laxy three jobs in effect. He is also director of Volvo's central region, which includes Germany, Switzer-land, Austria and a number of central European countries including Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Hungary. Laxy has also brought veteran Volvo aftersales executive Hans-Jürgen Karalus back from retirement to help him with the sales job, a move he hopes will please dealers.
