Purchasing executives for the Toyota and PSA/Peugeot-Citroen factory intensified negotiations with potential suppliers after key personnel relocated last month to Kolin, Czech Republic.
PSA personnel will primarily handle purchasing for the factory, which is scheduled to open in 2005.
"Development itself is pure cooperation between Toyota and PSA but with purchasing parts, for example, the main responsibility is on the PSA side," said Tetsuya Yamada, factory spokesman.
Jean Pierre Chantossel, executive vice president of the Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobile (TPCA) plant, has just moved to Kolin from Paris. He is responsible for screening potential Czech suppliers. His meetings will be both one-on-one and industry-wide, organized through the Czech Automobile Association (www.autosap.cz).
