Here's an open message to the domestic auto industry.
You want to brighten your future? Hire a gang of analysts who do two things.
Include what you have to be paid for that, eventually. Indicate how much of that increase you'll forgo and for what period of time. Suggest the price increase schedule that gets you where you need to be in four years.
Be willing to implement the proposed changes right away, but take the first year or two at no increase.
Then, at every level, analyze the most important changes and launch them.
Participating suppliers will be giving up something for the short term, but they will be betting on a more secure future.
In other words, suppliers will be investing in their future.
As it is now, they're all investing in their own slow demise.
Tough? Messy? Imprecise? You bet.
But, hey: In case you haven't noticed, someone has already gone through your place and done all the easy stuff.
