DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. is testing a program that lets customers get a free online vehicle appraisal and allows Mitsubishi dealers to get Internet leads, says Chris Marshall, Mitsubishi's online marketing manager.
The system uses Vertech LLC's Intelliprice appraisal service, which uses local wholesale vehicle data and consumer vehicle descriptions to create instant trade-in value estimates. The consumers' information is sent to a local Mitsubishi dealer who will invite the customer in to obtain a physical vehicle inspection and a firm price.
"We want to open a dialogue between the online customer and the dealership," Marshall says.
A test began in March. It is expected to be ready for a national debut by year end, Marshall says. Vertech is a privately funded technology company.
