Isuzu chose the Barcelona auto show to introduce a new pickup model, the D-Max, which will be launched in several European countries in September.
Spain, the UK and Greece will be the first countries to receive the D-Max, which will be sold in three body styles. The price of the double-cabin model is expected to be 23,000.
"In Spain, we expect to sell more than 1,000 units of the D-Max in the final three months of the year, and around 9,700 units in 2004," said Patricia Calvo, marketing manager of Isuzu Iberica.
The D-Max was co-developed by Isuzu and General Motors and will be built in Thailand, which is becoming a popular pickup production base for Japanese carmakers. The Nissan Pickup, Toyota Hi-Lux and Mazda B-2500 are also produced in Thailand.
The D-Max uses a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine with 131hp.
