PEUGEOT -- Christian Geraud has taken over from Tod Evans as managing director of Peugeot's UK operations. Geraud was managing director of Peugeot Automobili Italia.
Evans has taken up new duties as non-executive chairman of the board of Peugeot Citroen Automobiles UK. His role will include developing relations with the UK government and the national media.
Geraud, a French national, joined Peugeot in April 1972. He spent 10 years at the Paris head office before becoming director of the Lyon and Toulouse subsidiaries. In 1991 he was made general manager of Peugeot's Austrian operations and stayed there until taking charge of Peugeot Italia in July 1996.
MAZDA -- Stephen Odell (below), executive director in charge of Mazda's European operations, has been named senior managing executive officer in charge of marketing, sales and customer service.
Odell replaces David Thomas and will move to Japan. Thomas will return to the USA for Ford, which owns 33.3 percent of Mazda.
Odell was president and CEO of Mazda Motor Europe and Mazda Motor Logistics Europe.
Dan Morris, vice president of Mazda Motor Europe, has taken over Odell's posts at the two European units.
AKEBONO EUROPE -- Peter Schmitz has been named chief operating officer of Akebono Europe. He was president of ITT Galfer in Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA, a supplier of disc brake pads.
Akebono Europe was established in 1985. The company operates a research and development technical center in Gonesse, France; has a customer liaison office in Bad Nauheim, Germany; and a disc pad manufacturing facility in Arras, France.
Akebono Europe is a unit of Akebono Brake Industry of Tokyo.
UNIPART -- Christopher Etherington joined UK logistics and components group Unipart as managing director of its automotive aftermarket parts division, Unipart Automotive. He will also be appointed to the main board of the Unipart group.
Unipart Automotive comprises Unipart International, Brown Brothers, Partco Automotive and Serck Intertruck.
Etherington previously worked at pharmaceutical company Alliance Unichem where he was UK managing director and executive director for northern Europe.
