The 2003 Automotive News Market Data Book will include a new feature: wholesale used vehicle prices.
The price data, based on ADESA Analytical Services data, show that the average wholesale price per used truck last year was about $2,500 higher than the price of a car.
The average wholesale price for used light trucks was $11,004. Prices for large SUVs averaged $16,711, while full-sized pickups averaged $11,597.
The wholesale price for a car - that means all classifications - last year was $8,455. Upscale cars drew the highest average price - $15,539 - while sporty cars had an average price of $11,635.
The Market Data Book also gives a month-by-month price breakdown as well as a monthly volume breakdown.
The book will be distributed to all Automotive News subscribers with the May 26 issue. Single copies can be ordered for $19.95.
