DETROIT -- Nissan Motor Co Ltd. said Thursday its U.S. vehicle sales fell 4.2 percent in April to 60,940 cars and trucks.
Sales dropped from 61,172 in April last year, due to lower sales to fleet customers such as rental car agencies and businesses, said Jed Connelly, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Nissan North America.
The percentage figure is adjusted to account for one more selling day in April this year from last year.
"I would rate the month very good going into spring, Connelly said. "We're very optimistic going into the spring and summer months."
Connelly said Nissan's fleet sales fell to 750 vehicles in April, down from about 4,000 in April last year.
