Reynolds and Reynolds Co. has added Yahoo! Autos (autos.yahoo.com) as the fourth automotive Internet portal where dealers can list used-car inventories online.
Reynolds, a large provider of dealer management systems, pulls used-car information nightly from dealers' systems and posts the information on MSN Autos, CarsDirect.com, Kelley Blue Book and now Yahoo! Autos.
Any dealer can sign up for the Yahoo! Autos listings.
Here's how it works. Dealers pay $300 a month to post their used-car classifieds on Yahoo! Autos. Reynolds automatically pulls used-car information from the dealer systems, and it is matched with other product information and pictures before it is sent to Yahoo! Autos or one of the other three automotive Web sites.
The listing includes photos of the used vehicle, how far the dealer is from a ZIP code and the model year, price and mileage.
With all four portals, Reynolds is pulling used-car inventory information from dealer management systems for about 3,500 dealers, says Peter Wilson, a director at Reynolds' Automark Web Services unit in Seattle.
Neither Yahoo! Autos nor Reynolds would provide financial details of this partnership. Dealers have access to about 200 million users a month through Yahoo!
