Doug Halbert is on a mission. He wants young designers to know how to draw.
Halbert, executive designer of Honda R&D Americas in Torrance, Calif., says he has been surprised by the response to his comment last October in Automotive News suggesting that many young designers couldn't draw their way out of a paper bag - much less draw the bag. He says they should rely less on computers and more on pencils - that the emotion of designing comes from the shoulder, not the fingers on a mouse.
Makes sense to us.
But what about Halbert? Can he draw a paper bag? And what about some other top designers? Staff Reporter Mark Rechtin traveled the globe to find out.
