DETROIT - Joe Spielman will replace Guy Briggs as General Motors vice president of vehicle manufacturing on May 1.
Briggs, who turns 65 in May, will retire Dec. 31. In the interim, Briggs will help manage GM's heavy schedules of vehicle introductions, a company statement says.
Spielman, 58, has been vice president of the metal fabricating division. He will be replaced by James Wiemels, 56, who had been appointed vice president in charge of the GM global manufacturing system last September.
Kent Sears, 56, will succeed Wiemels. Sears has been vice president for quality.
Kevin Williams, 41, becomes vice president for quality. He had been executive director of supplier quality, development and supplier diversity.
