To the Editor:
I liked Keith Crain's March 3 column, "Move to ban SUVs sounds familiar."
I have one comment for those who want to ban the big vehicles (SUVs, other trucks, Cadillacs, Lincolns) that Crain missed.
If the wishes of the hysterical fanatics came to fruition, the industry would have another issue on its hands.
My husband is 6 foot 8 and weighs 295 pounds (yes, a former college football player). There are very few vehicles he can fit in.
Thus, households like ours are forced to buy the big vehicles.
One of two things would have to be done: Improve the big vehicles for better fuel economy and safety or ban them and engineer the smaller cars to have interior capacity for big, tall individuals.
Each scenario has a challenge and, I'm sure, a big price tag.
