DETROIT -- Two days after the sudden departure of the head of its Ford Motor Co. account, J. Walter Thompson, Detroit, has named a replacement.
Sean Neall today was named executive vice president and global business director on the Ford account, the agency's largest. Mr. Neall, 51, succeeds Mike O'Malley, who resigned suddenly on March 3 after less than two years on the job. Mr. O'Malley was also president of the agency's Detroit and Houston offices.
JWT said the president's role remains unfilled, and that Mr. Neall starts later this month.
Return to Detroit
This is a homecoming for Mr. Neall, who spent 13 years at the Detroit office in a variety of management posts on the Ford account. He left JWT in 1997 for WPP Group sibling Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, London, where he was client services director on the Ford of Europe account. His last post since 2000 was vice president of European operations for consultancy Urban Science Applications.
JWT's U.S. Ford accounts include national and regional dealer ad groups, which spent some $1 billion in measured media last year.
