The Behr Group said on Thursday that Horst Geidel will retire on June 30 from his post as CEO and chairman of the management board.
Geidel, 63, will become chairman of the companys supervisory board, taking over for Walther Zuegel, who will become deputy chairman of that board. Geidel also will continue to serve as Behr America's chairman of the board of directors.
Markus Flik, 42, will replace Geidel as the Behr Group's CEO and chairman of the management board. Flik, who joined the company in 1992, has been a member of Behr's management board since 1997. He is responsible for the companys research and development, and its engine cooling division.
Geidel, who joined Behr in 1964, has been CEO since 1988. Under his leadership, Behr has grown its staff to more than 16,000 employees from 7,700. Total sales for the supplier will exceed 3 billion euros for the first time in fiscal year 2003.
Behr of Stuttgart, is a supplier of air conditioning and engine cooling systems.
