Freudenberg-NOK on Monday said it is forming a 50-50 joint venture with Ishino Gasket Manufacturing Co. Ltd., to be called Ishino Gasket North America.
The joint venture will be based in Plymouth, Mich., also the home of Freudenberg-NOK. The gaskets will be produced at Freudenberg-NOK's plant in Necedah, Wis.
Freudenberg-NOK is a general partnership owned by Freudenberg & Co. of Europe and NOK Corp. of Japan. NOK in January purchased Ishino Gasket Manufacturing Co. Ltd., which supplies gaskets to Japanese automakers.
Freudenberg-NOK ranks no. 45 on the Automotive News list of the Top 150 original equipment suppliers to North America. The supplier of seals and NVH components had $1 billion in 2001 parts sales to North American automakers.
