Audi of America Inc. has an ambitious growth plan that calls for doubling its sales in five or six years.
To help accomplish that feat, Audi plans to enter new segments. In Detroit last month, Audi unveiled its Pikes Peak quattro concept, and it is likely to be produced. Audi also wants to bring the A3 to America as an entry-level model below the A4 and offer a sports car positioned above the TT Coupe in size and performance.
Audi of America is considering new segments and niches after a second consecutive record sales year. Audi sold 85,726 vehicles in the United States in 2002.
Don Skuta, Audi National Dealer Council chairman and executive vice president of Champion Motors (Audi-Porsche) in Pompano Beach, Fla., spoke with Staff Reporter Ralph Kisiel.
