Last month, Rick Suzuki, president of American Suzuki Motor Corp., unveiled the rally-inspired Concept S at the Detroit auto show. He said that while the car won't be produced, "we will continue to increase the breadth of our product line at an accelerated pace. If you want know more about that, you'll have to come to the Chicago Auto Show in a few weeks to see what we'll be hiding under the covers."
As of mid-January, the company's retailers hadn't been told what's under the covers, but Minnesota dealer Rick Kline, the longtime chairman of the Suzuki Dealer Advisory Board, says dealers are confident that the company is committed to delivering more product. Suzuki and partner General Motors reportedly were preparing to add rebadged Daewoo vehicles to Suzuki's lineup.
Kline has six dealerships in Maplewood and plans to open a second Mitsubishi outlet in Inver Grove Heights, Minn., another St. Paul suburb just south of Maplewood, where his second Nissan store is set to open in June. He talked with Special Correspondent Karen Passino.
