John K. Teahen Jr. has got to be kidding in his June 17 column.
For the first five months of this year, Toyota sold about 189,000 Camrys. General Motors sold about 410,000 Buick Centurys and Regals, Oldsmobile Intrigues and Aleros, Pontiac Grand Prixes and Grand Ams, Chevrolet Impalas and Malibus and Saturn L series.
All those cars are similar in size and price to a Toyota Camry.
Sorry, Mr. Teahen, your theory does not hold gas. The domestics are building trucks because that's what people want. They will build cars again in due time.
It is more important that they build quality and good value than new models.
