Here's the first official look at BMW's new 2003 Z4 roadster. The car replaces the Z3 which debuted as a 1996 model. The Z4's exterior design is characterized by the interplay of convex and concave surfaces, hard edges and curves. The car features a new chassis and is longer and widerthan the Z3. Two inline six-cylinder engines will be available: a 184-hp 2.5-liter and a 225-hp 3.0-liter. U.S. sales begin this fall followed next spring with sales in Europe. As with the Z3, the new roadster will be assembled in Spartanburg, S.C.
