What makes good design?
"It's more than just looking pretty," says General Motors Chairman Robert Lutz. "The physical appearance of a vehicle speaks volumes to the viewer about its brand, its heritage and about its real or implied characteristics."
Though Lutz conceded he is not a designer, he has some forthright opinions. And you can't afford to overlook the little things, he said.
"One of the features of recent Japanese and German cars is the superb execution of both the exterior and the interior," he said. "Gaps, parallelism and flushness of panels must be world class for a design to really work."
