A website called petitiononline.com features a petition to "Stop Chris Bangle," the design chief for BMW.
Petitioners want him fired because they are unhappy with the design of the flagship 7 series.
The site says the petition has 2,072 signatures, but at least one of the entries is obviously false: "I hate myself for this design. - Chris Bangle."
Meanwhile, to launch its pricey new 7 series in - of all places - New Zealand, BMW relied on a little American glamor.
BMW signed up former US President Bill Clinton, who fetched $500,000 (E518,340) for the appearance. A select audience of 7-series prospects paid $25,000 each to hang out with Bill, according to reports.
Does this mean Clinton has turned a fan of European cars? Not likely, as he arrived at the party in a gold Ford Explorer.
