Torrington wants to expand its automotive sales by increasing content per vehicle, said Mohammed Zammeer, European operations director.
'Nobody wants to buy just a bearing anymore,' he said.
Torrington will have to expand into new but related product areas to increase content, he said.
Chuck Byrnes, European director of automotive sales and marketing, said Torrington engineers are now considering motion-
control components that surround a standard pin bearing in hopes of producing a small sub-assembly to boost revenue per vehicle.
