DaimlerChrysler is reviving the Maybach brand with the help of an international print campaign designed to refresh memories after a 60-year absence.
The new Maybach, priced at around 330,000, goes on sale in Europe in the autumn and in the USA in spring 2003.

The first Mercedes built in 1901 was the brainchild of Wilhelm Maybach, a friend and colleague of Gottlieb Daimler. In 1909, Maybach went on to build engines for Zeppelin airships. In 1919, his son Karl began making luxury automobiles to the specifications of his exclusive clientele. The Maybach car company made 1,800 vehicles by 1941, including the 1930 Maybach Zeppelin, a massive passenger car with a V-12 engine.
