DETROIT - Component supplier Metaldyne of Plymouth, Mich., has won contracts to provide products for two future Ford Motor Co. programs. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Metaldyne will produce an aluminum front knuckle assembly for the 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis and Marauder, Lincoln Town Car and Ford Crown Victoria. To decrease weight, the aluminum knuckle replaces a part that was made of steel. The parts will be made in Edon, Ohio.
The company also will supply International Truck and Engine Corp. with front-end modules, connecting rods and turbocharger exhaust tube assemblies for its advanced V-engine program, which includes a 6.0-liter
V-8 diesel. The engines will power full-sized Ford pickups, sport-utilities and vans. Metaldyne will make the front-end module for the engines. It also will supply stainless steel turbocharger exhaust tube assemblies.
