The new Ibiza is produced at Seat's Martorell plant near Barcelona, Spain. Three new laser welding stations have been installed in the plant to improve build quality and increase productivity. Total output is 1,300 chassis per day. Quality improvements allowed Seat to eliminate the roof gutters on the Ibiza. Of the 685 million spent on the Ibiza's development, 250 million was invested in Martorell. The plant increased production by more than 5,000 units in the first quarter of 2002 to meet rising demand for the models built there.
