DETROIT - DaimlerChrysler said it has extended for 30 years its joint manufacturing agreement in China at the Beijing Jeep Corp.
The joint venture, which began production in May 1983, will introduce one of two models aimed at the Chinese market this week at the Beijing auto show. A compact sport-utility will be branded as a Mitsubishi product.
DaimlerChrysler's 42.4 percent ownership stake in Beijing Jeep remains unchanged. The Chinese government's Beijing Automotive Industry Co. owns the remaining stake.
